وَحَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ
سُئِلَ عَنِ الْفَأْرَةِ تَقَعُ فِي السَّمْنِ فَقَالَ انْزِعُوهَا وَمَا حَوْلَهَا فَاطْرَحُوهُ

Malik related to me from Ibn Shihab from Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utba ibn Masud from Abdullah ibn Abbas from Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about a mouse falling into clarified butter. He said, "Remove it and throw away what is around it "

machine translationIbn Abī Ḥātim said: I asked my father about a hadith narrated by Ibn Abī Maryam from ʿAbd al-Jabbār b. ʿUmar al-Aylī, from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim, from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ regarding a mouse that falls into clarified butter, where he said: "If it is solid..." the hadith. Ibn Abī Ḥātim said: And Maʿmar narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab, from Abū Hurayrah, raising it to the Prophet ﷺ. My father said: Both of them are an illusion (wahm), and what is authentic (al-ṣaḥīḥ) is: al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿAbd Allāh, from Ibn ʿAbbās, from Maymūnah, from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.

Isḥāq al-Anṣārī narrated it from Maʿn, from Mālik, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbayd Allāh, in mursal form from the Prophet ﷺ. Yūnus narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿAbd Allāh, who said: "It has reached us that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ..." and likewise Ibn Jurayj narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbayd Allāh, in mursal form. ʿAbd al-Jabbār b. ʿUmar narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim, from his father, and made an error (wahima) in it.
