Saʿīd was alone in transmitting it from him. Al-Shaʿbī also narrated it, and Abū Ḥātim Suwayd b. Ibrāhīm was alone in transmitting it from Ḥammād from him, and al-Kirmānī b. ʿAmr was alone in transmitting it from him, while others narrate it from Ḥammād from Ibrāhīm; it has a basis from al-Shaʿbī. • Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal

machine translationIn my view the hadith of Khuzaymah on wiping (over the socks) is not authentic (ṣaḥīḥ), because no hearing of Abū ʿAbdillāh al-Jadalī from Khuzaymah b. Thābit is known; the hadith of ʿAmr b. Maymūn from al-Jadalī is more authentic and better.

  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationIts chain of transmission is inconsistent (muḍṭarib).

machine translationThe authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) version is the hadith of Ibrāhīm al-Taymī from ʿAmr b. Maymūn from al-Jadalī, and the authentic version of the hadith of al-Nakhaʿī is from al-Jadalī without ʿAmr b. Maymūn.

  • ʿAlī al-Madīnī

machine translationHe mentioned a great deal of disagreement, then said: When this hadith became inconsistent (muḍṭarib) in the narration of al-Taymī, and they differed about him in the chain, I wanted to know who narrated it by way of Khuzaymah, because it is a foundation among the foundations.
