Show the chain

“I entered upon Mukhtar in his palace and he said: 'Jibril has just left me.' Nothing stopped me from striking his neck (i.e, killing him) but a Hadith that I heard from Sulaiman bin Surad, according to which the Prophet ﷺ said: 'If a man trusts you with his life, then do not kill him.' That is what stopped me.”

machine translationWakīʿ said it from Abū Laylā without naming him. And Muslim b. Ibrāhīm said, from ʿAbdullāh b. Maysarah al-Ḥārithī, from Abū ʿUkāshah, from Rifāʿah b. Shaddād, from Sulaymān b. Ṣurad. The first is closer to the correct view: Abū ʿUkāshah al-Hamdānī, from Rifāʿah b. Shaddād, from ʿAmr b. al-Ḥamiq, for the ḥadīth of ʿAmr b. al-Ḥamiq is preserved (maḥfūẓ) on this topic.
