✧ I was standing at the head of al-Mukhtar, and when I recognized his lie, I resolved to draw my sword and strike his neck, but I remembered a hadith that Amr b. al-Hamiq narrated to us. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever gives a man safety for his life and then kills him, he will be given the banner of treachery on the Day of Resurrection."

machine translationWakīʿ said it from Abū Laylā without naming him. And Muslim b. Ibrāhīm said, from ʿAbdullāh b. Maysarah al-Ḥārithī, from Abū ʿUkāshah, from Rifāʿah b. Shaddād, from Sulaymān b. Ṣurad. The first is closer to the correct view: Abū ʿUkāshah al-Hamdānī, from Rifāʿah b. Shaddād, from ʿAmr b. al-Ḥamiq, for the ḥadīth of ʿAmr b. al-Ḥamiq is preserved (maḥfūẓ) on this topic.
