Translation

✧ The Story of Idrīs ﷺ He is Khanūkh b. Yard b. Mahlāʾīl b. Qaynān b. Anūsh b. Shīth b. Ādam ﷺ. Other names have been mentioned for him, and it was said that he was called Idrīs ﷺ because he was the first to study written revelation. The scholars differed as to whether he is in the ancestral line of the Prophet ﷺ or not. The historians mention that Khanūkh b. Yard ﷺ married when he was sixty-five years old, and his son Mattūshalakḥ was born to him. His father appointed him as his successor over the affairs of his children and the command of God, and he enjoined him and his household before he was raised up. Idrīs ﷺ had informed them that God would punish the children of Qābīl and those who mingled with them, and he forbade them from mixing with them. The matter remained as Idrīs ﷺ had enjoined until Ṣābī b. Mattūshalakḥ came. Mattūshalakḥ had a son named Lammak, who is the father of Nūḥ ﷺ. Idrīs ﷺ is the first to be given prophethood after Ādam and Shīth (peace be upon them), and he is the first to write with the pen, cut garments, and sew them. He lived in the time of al-Ḍaḥḥāk b. al-Ahnūb, who is said to have been a friend of Iblīs, and whose religion was the religion of the Barāhima. He remained king over all the regions for a thousand years minus half a day. God Almighty raised Idrīs to a high place, and the Prophet ﷺ informed that he is in the fourth heaven. Some scholars mentioned that he was raised to the fourth heaven, and it was said: to the sixth, then he was taken in death there. Moreover, there were many events, most of which are unknown, between Idrīs and Nūḥ (peace be upon them), and there were a thousand years between them.
