Abu Talib's Guardianship of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ
سَفَرِهِ ﷺ مَعَ عَمِّهِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ قَالَ ابْنُ الْجَوْزِيِّ فِي «الْوَفَا» لَمَّا أَتَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِضْعَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً خَرَجَ فِي سَفَرٍ مَعَ عَمِّهِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، فَمَرُّوا بِوَادٍ فِيهِ فَحْلٌ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ يَمْنَعُ مَنْ يَجْتَازُ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ الْبَعِيرُ بَرَكَ وَحَكَّ الْأَرْضَ بِكَلْكَلِهِ، فَنَزَلَ عَنْ بَعِيرِهِ وَرَكِبَهُ فَسَارَ حَتَّى جَاوَزَ الْوَادِيَ ثُمَّ خَلَّى عَنْهُ، فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوا مِنْ سَفَرِهِمْ مَرُّوا بِوَادٍ مَمْلُوءٍ مَاءً يَتَدَفَّقُ فَوَقَفُوا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: اتَّبِعُونِي. ثُمَّ اقْتَحَمَهُ فَاتَّبَعُوهُ فَأَيْبَسَ اللَّهُ الْمَاءَ. فَلَمَّا وَصَلُوا إِلَى مَكَّةَ تَحَدَّثُوا بِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ النَّاسُ: إِنَّ لِهَذَا الْغُلَامِ شَأْنًا. الْكَلْكَلُ وَالْكَلْكَالُ: الصَّدْرُ.
Translation
✧ His ﷺ journey with his uncle al-Zubayr b. ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib to Yemen Ibn al-Jawzī said in “al-Wafā”: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reached his mid-teens, he set out on a journey with his uncle al-Zubayr. They passed by a valley in which there was a male camel that prevented anyone from crossing. When the camel saw him, it knelt and rubbed the ground with its chest. So he dismounted from his camel and rode it, and it proceeded until he crossed the valley, then he released it. When they returned from their journey, they passed by a valley full of water flowing swiftly, and they stopped. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Follow me. Then he plunged into it and they followed him, and Allah dried up the water. When they reached Makkah, they spoke about that, and the people said: This boy has a great affair. Al-kalkal and al-kalkāl: the chest.
