The Prophet's ﷺ Marriage to Khadijah bt. Khuwaylid ᴿᴬ
قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَكَانَ عُمُرُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ تَزَوَّجَ خَدِيجَةَ خَمْسًا وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً فِيمَا حَدَّثَنِي غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْهُمْ أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْمَدَنِيُّ، وَقَالَ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ: كَتَبْتُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمَوْصِلِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ أَسَدٍ زَوَّجَ خَدِيجَةَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَعُمُرُهُ خَمْسًا وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً، وَقُرَيْشٌ تَبْنِي الْكَعْبَةَ، وَهَكَذَا نَقَلَ الْبَيْهَقِيُّ عَنِ الْحَاكِمِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ عُمُرُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ تَزَوَّجَ خَدِيجَةَ خَمْسًا وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً وَكَانَ عُمُرُهَا إِذْ ذَاكَ خَمْسًا وَثَلَاثِينَ، وَقِيلَ خَمْسًا وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً.
Translation
✧ Ibn Hishām said: The age of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he married Khadījah was twenty-five years, as more than one of the people of knowledge, among them Abū ʿAmr al-Madanī, related to me. Yaʿqūb b. Sufyān said: I wrote from Ibrāhīm b. al-Mundhir: ʿUmar b. Abī Bakr al-Mawṣilī related to me: more than one related to me that ʿAmr b. Asad gave Khadījah in marriage to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was twenty-five years old, while Quraysh was building the Kaʿbah. Likewise, al-Bayhaqī transmitted from al-Ḥākim that the age of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he married Khadījah was twenty-five years, and her age at that time was thirty-five, and it is also said twenty-five years.
