Translation

✧ Mention of Some of the Names of Zamzam Al-Fākihī, may God Almighty have mercy on him, said: Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm gave me a book which he mentioned was from his shaykhs among the people of Makkah, and I copied it from his book. They said: This is the enumeration of the names of Zamzam. They are: Zamzam, and Hazmat Jibrīl, and Suqyā Ismāʿīl, it is not exhausted nor blamed, and Barakah, and Sayyidah, and Nāfiʿah, and Maḍnūnah, and ʿAwnah, and Bushrā, and Ṣāfiyah, and Barrah, and ʿIṣmah, and Sālimah, and Maymūnah, and Mubārakah, and Kāfiyah, and ʿĀfiyah, and Mughadhdhiyah, and Ṭāhirah, and Ḥurmah, and Marwiyyah, and Muʾnah, and Ṭaʿām Ṭuʿm, and Shifāʾ Suqm. End. Another added: Ṭaybah, and Tuktam, and Shabbāʿat al-ʿIyāl, and Sharāb al-Abrār, and Qaryat al-Naml, and Naqrat al-Ghurāb al-Aʿṣam, and Hazmat Ismāʿīl. Al-Bikrī said: al-hazmah is a depression in the ground, and hazmat al-arḍ is its pit, and al-hazāʾim are wells. End. And Ḥufrat al-ʿAbbās. Yāqūt mentioned this name in al-Mushtarak. And Hamzat Jibrīl, with the mīm preceding the zāy, was mentioned by al-Suhaylī, and Sābiq. I say: Al-Bakrī added: al-Shayyāʿah. He said: with a doubled unpointed shīn and a doubled yāʾ, sister of wāw, and with an unpointed ʿayn. This is his text, and he did not address the vowels of the letters. In Mughlaṭāy's handwriting in "al-Zahr" it is with three fatḥahs. Al-Zamakhsharī likewise mentioned it among the names of places and waters, then it was transmitted from al-Khārazanjī: Shuyāʿah with a ḍammah on the shīn and a fatḥah on the yāʾ, both undoubled. And Rakḍat Jibrīl, and Ḥafīrat ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, and that was transmitted from Abū ʿUmar al-Zāhid, may God Almighty have mercy on him. In "al-Zahr" he added, transmitting from Ibn al-Sīd in al-Muthallath: Zammam, with a fatḥah on the first mīm and with a ḍammah on it, doubled in both cases. And Shayʿah, with a fatḥah on the unpointed shīn, a sukūn on the two-pointed yāʾ, and a fatḥah on the unpointed ʿayn. And Ḥafīrat ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib. Ibn Khālawayh added in the book "Laysa": Maknūnah with two nūns, and Maktūmah with a two-pointed tāʾ and a mīm. And God Almighty knows best.
