Then the year 375 AH began
ذِكْرُ انْهِزَامِ عَسَاكِرِ الْمَنْصُورِ مِنْ صَاحِبِ سِجِلْمَاسَةَ قَدْ ذَكَرْنَا اسْتِيلَاءَ خَزَرُونَ وَزِيرِي الزَّنَاتِيَّيْنِ عَلَى سِجِلْمَاسَةَ وَفَاسَ، وَمَوْتَ يُوسُفَ بُلُكِّينَ لَمَّا قَصَدَهُمَا، فَلَمَّا مَاتَ تَمَكَّنَا مِنْ تِلْكَ الْبِلَادِ فَلَمَّا اسْتَقَرَّ الْمَنْصُورُ سَيَّرَ جَيْشًا كَثِيفًا إِلَيْهِمَا لِيَرُدَّهُمَا إِلَى طَاعَتِهِ، فَلَمَّا صَارَ الْجَيْشُ قُرَيْبَ فَاسَ خَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ صَاحِبُهَا زِيرِي بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ الزَّنَاتِيُّ، الْمَعْرُوفُ بِالْقِرْطَاسِ، فِي عَسَاكِرِهِ، فَاقْتَتَلُوا قِتَالًا شَدِيدًا، فَانْهَزَمَ عَسْكَرُ الْمَنْصُورِ، وَقُتِلَ مِنْهُمْ خَلْقٌ كَثِيرٌ، وَأُسِرَ جَمَاعَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ، وَثَبَتَ قَدَمُهُ فِي وِلَايَتِهِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the defeat of al-Manṣūr's armies by the ruler of Sijilmāsah We have previously mentioned the seizure of Sijilmāsah and Fās by Khazarūn, the minister of the two Zanātīs, and the death of Yūsuf Bulukkīn when he set out against them. When he died, they established themselves firmly in those lands. When al-Manṣūr became settled, he dispatched a large army against them to bring them back to his obedience. When the army drew near Fās, its ruler Zīrī b. ʿAṭiyyah al-Zanātī, known as al-Qirṭās, came out against them with his forces. They fought a fierce battle, and al-Manṣūr's army was routed; many of them were killed and a great many taken prisoner, and his foothold in his province remained firm.
