Then the year 373 AH began
ذِكْرُ عِصْيَانِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ غَانِمٍ وَفِيهَا عَصَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَانِمٍ الْبَرْزِيكَانِيُّ بِنَاحِيَةِ كُورَدْرَ، مِنْ أَعْمَالٍ قُمَّ، عَلَى فَخْرِ الدَّوْلَةِ، وَأَخَذَ بَعْضَ غَلَّاتِ السُّلْطَانِ، وَامْتَنَعَ بِحِصْنِ الْهَفْتَجَانِ، وَجَمَعَ الْبَرْزِيكَانِيَّ إِلَى نَفْسِهِ، فَسَارَتْ إِلَيْهِ الْعَسَاكِرُ، فِي شَوَّالٍ، لِقِتَالِهِ، فَهَزَمَهَا، وَأُعِيدَتْ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الرَّيِّ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَهَزَمَهَا. فَأَرْسَلَ فَخْرُ الدَّوْلَةِ إِلَى أَبِي النَّجْمِ بَدْرِ بْنِ حَسْنُوَيْهِ يُنْكِرُ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ، وَيَأْمُرُهُ بِإِصْلَاحِ الْحَالِ مَعَهُ، فَفَعَلَ، وَرَاسَلَهُ، فَاصْطَلَحُوا أَوَّلَ سَنَةِ أَرْبَعٍ وَسَبْعِينَ [ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ ] ( وَبَقِيَ إِلَى سَنَةِ خَمْسٍ وَسَبْعِينَ )، فَسَارَ إِلَيْهِ جَيْشٌ لِفَخْرِ الدَّوْلَةِ، فَقَاتَلَهُ، فَأَصَابَتْهُ طَعْنَةٌ، وَأُخِذَ أَسِيرًا، فَمَاتَ مِنْ طَعْنَتِهِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the rebellion of Muḥammad b. Ghānim In this year Muḥammad b. Ghānim al-Barzīkānī rebelled in the district of Kūradra, among the dependencies of Qumm, against Fakhr al-Dawlah. He seized some of the sultan's revenues and fortified himself in the fortress of al-Haftajān. He gathered the Barzīkānī to himself. Armies marched against him in Shawwāl to fight him, but he routed them. They were sent against him again from al-Rayy another time, and he routed them. Fakhr al-Dawlah sent to Abū al-Najm Badr b. Ḥasanūyah, rebuking him for that and commanding him to set matters right with him. He did so and corresponded with him. They made peace at the beginning of the year 374 [and 300] (and it remained until the year 375). Then an army of Fakhr al-Dawlah marched against him and fought him. He was struck by a spear-thrust and taken captive, and he died of his spear-wound.
