Translation
✧ Mention of Ibn Sīmjūr's return to Khurāsān When Abū al-Ḥasan b. Sīmjūr was dismissed from the command of the armies of Khurāsān and Abū al-ʿAbbās was appointed to it, Ibn Sīmjūr went to Sijistān and stayed there. When Abū al-ʿAbbās was defeated at Jurjān, as we have mentioned, he saw that the strife had raised its head, so he left Sijistān for Khurāsān and stayed in Quhistān. When Abū al-ʿAbbās marched to Bukhārā and Khurāsān was emptied of him, Ibn Sīmjūr wrote to Fāʾiq seeking his agreement to seize Khurāsān. He agreed to that, and they met at Nīsābūr and took control of those regions. The news reached Abū al-ʿAbbās, so he marched from Bukhārā with a large force to Marw. Messengers went back and forth between them, and they made peace on the condition that Nīsābūr and the command of the armies be for Ibn al-ʿAbbās, Balkh for Fāʾiq, and Herāt for Abū ʿAlī b. Abī al-Ḥasan b. Sīmjūr. They parted on that, and each of them headed to his province.
