Translation

✧ Mention of the killing of al-Ḥusayn b. ʿImrān b. Shāhīn In this year, al-Ḥusayn b. ʿImrān b. Shāhīn, the lord of al-Baṭīḥah, was killed. His brother Abū al-Faraj killed him and took control of al-Baṭīḥah. The reason for his killing was that he envied him for his authority and the people's love for him. It happened that a sister of theirs fell ill, so Abū al-Faraj said to his brother al-Ḥusayn: "Our sister is near death, so if you would visit her." He did so and went to her. Abū al-Faraj had stationed in the house a group of men to help him kill him. When al-Ḥusayn entered the house, his companions stayed behind him, and Abū al-Faraj entered with him, with his sword in his hand. When he was alone with him, he killed him. The outcry arose, so he went up to the roof and informed the army of his killing, promising them kindness, so they fell silent. He gave them money, and they confirmed him in the matter. He wrote to Baghdādh, showing obedience and requesting that he be granted the governorship. He was reckless and ignorant.
