ذِكْرُ مُلْكِ قَابُوسَ بْنِ وَشْكَمِيرَ جُرْجَانَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ تُوُفِّيَ ظَهِيرُ الدَّوْلَةِ بِيسَتُونَ بْنُ وَشْكَمِيرَ بِجُرْجَانَ، وَكَانَ قَابُوسٌ أَخُوهُ زَائِرًا خَالَهُ رُسْتُمَ بِجَبَلِ شَهْرَيَارَ، وَخَلَّفَ بِيسَتُونُ ابْنًا صَغِيرًا بِطَبَرِسْتَانَ مَعَ جَدِّهِ لِأُمِّهِ، فَطَمِعَ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ الْمُلْكَ، فَبَادَرَ إِلَى جُرْجَانَ، فَرَأَى بِهَا جَمَاعَةً مِنَ الْقُوَّادِ قَدْ مَالُوا إِلَى قَابُوسٍ، فَقَبَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَبَلَغَ الْخَبَرُ إِلَى قَابُوسٍ فَسَارَ إِلَى جُرْجَانَ، فَلَمَّا قَارَبَهَا خَرَجَ الْجَيْشُ إِلَيْهِ، وَأَجْمَعُوا عَلَيْهِ، وَمَلَّكُوهُ، وَهَرَبَ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَ ابْنِ بِيسَتُونَ، فَأَخَذَهُ عَمُّهُ قَابُوسٌ وَكَفَلَهُ، وَجَعَلَهُ أُسْوَةَ أَوْلَادِهِ، وَاسْتَوْلَى عَلَى جُرْجَانَ وَطَبَرِسْتَانَ.
Translation
✧ Mention of Qābūs b. Washkamīr's Possession of Jurjān In this year Ẓahīr al-Dawlah Bīsatūn b. Washkamīr died in Jurjān. His brother Qābūs was visiting his maternal uncle Rustam at Mount Shahriyār. Bīsatūn left behind a young son in Ṭabaristān with his maternal grandfather, who coveted taking the kingship. He hastened to Jurjān, where he saw a group of commanders who had inclined toward Qābūs, so he seized them. The news reached Qābūs, and he traveled to Jurjān. When he approached it, the army came out to him, gathered around him, and made him king. Those who were with Bīsatūn's son fled, so his uncle Qābūs took him, assumed guardianship over him, and made him equal to his own children. He took possession of Jurjān and Ṭabaristān.
