✧ The khutbah was delivered for al-ʿAzīz al-ʿAlawī in Makkah In this year, the khutbah was delivered for al-ʿAzīz al-ʿAlawī in Makkah, may Allah the Exalted protect it, after he sent an army to it which besieged it, pressured its people, and denied them provisions. Prices soared there and its people faced severe hardship. During this year, Basīlus b. Armanūs, the king of the Byzantines, appointed Wardā, known as Saqlārūs, as domestikos. When he had settled in the governorship, he became alienated from the kingdom, so he rebelled against him, sought support from Abū Taghlib b. Ḥamdān, became his son-in-law, donned the crown, and claimed the kingdom. Rukn al-Dawlah dividing the kingdoms among his sons Among the events of this year: Rukn al-Dawlah Abū ʿAlī wrote to his son ʿAḍud al-Dawlah Abū Shujāʿ informing him that he had grown old, that the command of Allah the Exalted which he awaited was near, and that he preferred to see him. They met, and Rukn al-Dawlah divided the kingdoms among his sons. He gave ʿAḍud al-Dawlah Fārs, Kirmān, and Arrajān; Muʾayyid al-Dawlah al-Rayy and Iṣbahān; and Fakhr al-Dawlah Hamadhān and al-Dīnawar. He placed his son Abū al-ʿAbbās under the care of ʿAḍud al-Dawlah and entrusted him to him. Sitting of the Chief Judge in the house of ʿIzz al-Dawlah On Tuesday, the sixteenth of Rajab, the Chief Judge Abū Muḥammad b. Maʿrūf sat in the house of ʿIzz al-Dawlah and adjudicated cases, because ʿIzz al-Dawlah had requested that of him in order to observe his court session.
