Then the year 360 AH began
وَفِي شَعْبَانَ: تَقَلَّدَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ ابْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ قَضَاءَ الْقُضَاةِ، وَصُرِفَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ابْنُ سَيَّارٍ عَنِ الْجَانِبِ الشَّرْقِيِّ، وَرَكِبَ مَعَهُ الْوَزِيرُ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ الشِّيرَازِيُّ، وَكَانَ هَذَا الْوَزِيرُ قَدْ أُطْلِقَ مِنْ حَبْسِهِ، وَخُلِعَ عَلَيْهِ خَلْعُ الْوِزَارَةِ، وَقَبِلَ ابْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ شَهَادَةَ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السِّيرَافِيِّ وَاسْتَخْلَفَهُ عَلَى الْحُكْمِ مِنَ الْجَانِبِ الشَّرْقِيِّ، وَقَبِلَ أَيْضًا شَهَادَةَ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عِيسَى الرُّمَّانِيِّ النَّحْوِيِّ، وَوَثَبَتِ الْعَامَّةُ بِالْمُطَهَّرِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ فِي جَامِعِ الْمَدِينَةِ، وَنَسَبُوهُ إِلَى الْقَوْلِ بِخَلْقِ الْقُرْآنِ.
Translation
✧ In Shaʿbān: Abū Muḥammad b. Maʿrūf assumed the office of chief judge, and Abū Bakr b. Sayyār was dismissed from the eastern district. The vizier Abū al-Faḍl al-Shīrāzī rode with him, and this vizier had been released from his imprisonment and was invested with the robes of the vizierate. Ibn Maʿrūf accepted the testimony of Abū Saʿīd al-Ḥasan b. ʿAbdallāh al-Sīrāfī and appointed him as his deputy for judging in the eastern district. He also accepted the testimony of Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī b. ʿĪsā al-Rummānī the grammarian. The common people attacked al-Muṭahhar b. Sulaymān in the congregational mosque of the city, accusing him of professing the createdness of the Qurʾān.
