Then the Year 318 AH Began
مُخَالِفَةِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ وَعَوْدِهِ كَانَ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي دَاوُدَ مُقِيمًا بِالْخُتَّلِ، وَالِيًا عَلَيْهَا لِلسَّامَانِيَّةِ فَبَدَتْ مِنْهُ أُمُورٌ نُسِبَ بِسَبَبِهَا إِلَى الِاسْتِعْصَاءِ، فَكُوتِبَ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُظَفَّرِ بِقَصْدِهِ، فَسَارَ إِلَيْهِ، وَحَارَبَهُ، فَقَبَضَ عَلَيْهِ، وَحَمَلَهُ إِلَى بُخَارَى، ( وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ مُخَالَفَةِ أَبِي زَكَرِيَّاءَ يَحْيَى، فَلَمَّا حُمِلَ إِلَى بُخَارَى ) حُبِسَ فِيهَا، فَلَمَّا خَالَفَ أَبُو زَكَرِيَّاءَ يَحْيَى أَخْرَجَهُ مِنَ الْحَبْسِ وَصَحِبَهُ، ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَهُ فِي الْعَوْدِ إِلَى وِلَايَةِ الْخُتَّلِ وَجَمْعِ الْجُيُوشِ لَهُ بِهَا، فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَسَارَ إِلَيْهَا، وَأَقَامَ بِهَا، وَتَمَسَّكَ بِطَاعَةِ ( السَّعِيدِ نَصْرِ بْنِ ) أَحْمَدَ، فَصَلُحَ حَالُهُ، وَذَلِكَ سَنَةَ ثَمَانِيَ عَشْرَةَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ. .
Translation
✧ The rebellion of Jaʿfar b. Abī Jaʿfar and his return Jaʿfar b. Abī Jaʿfar b. Abī Dāwūd was residing in al-Khuttal as governor for the Sāmānids. Matters appeared from him by reason of which he was accused of insubordination. Abū ʿAlī Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. al-Muẓaffar was written to, instructing him to move against him. He marched to him and fought him. He captured him and carried him to Bukhārā. (That was before the rebellion of Abū Zakariyyāʾ Yaḥyā. When he was carried to Bukhārā), he was imprisoned there. When Abū Zakariyyāʾ Yaḥyā rebelled, he released him from prison and he accompanied him. Then he asked his permission to return to the governorship of al-Khuttal and to gather armies for him there. He gave him permission. He traveled there and resided in it, and he adhered to obedience to (al-Saʿīd Naṣr b.) Aḥmad. His situation became sound. That was in the year 318 AH. .
