Then the year 182 AH began

وَفِي سَنَةُ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَثَمَانِينَ وَمِائَةٍ حُمِلَتِ ابْنَةُ خَاقَانَ مَلِكِ الْخَزَرِ إِلَى الْفَضْلِ بْنِ يَحْيَى، فَمَاتَتْ بِبَرْذَعَةَ، فَرَجَعَ مَنْ مَعَهَا إِلَى أَبِيهَا فَأَخْبَرُوهُ أَنَّهَا قُتِلَتْ غِيلَةً، فَتَجَهَّزَ إِلَى بِلَادِ الْإِسْلَامِ. وَغَزَا الصَّائِفَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، فَبَلَغَ أُفْسُوسَ، مَدِينَةَ أَصْحَابِ الْكَهْفِ. وَفِيهَا سَمَلَتِ الرُّومُ عَيْنَيْ مَلِكِهِمْ قُسْطَنْطِينَ بْنِ أَلْيُونَ، وَأَقَرُّوا أُمَّهُ رِينِي وَتُلَقَّبُ: عَطْسَةَ. وَحَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ مُوسَى بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ مُوسَى. وَكَانَ عَلَى الْمَوْصِلِ هَرْثَمَةُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ. ( وَفِيهَا جَازَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، صَاحِبُ الْأَنْدَلُسِ، إِلَى بِلَادِ الْأَنْدَلُسِ مِنَ الشَّرْقِ، وَتَعَرَّضَ لِحَرْبِ ابْنِ أَخِيهِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، صَاحِبِ الْبِلَادِ، فَسَارَ إِلَيْهِ الْحَكَمُ فِي جُيُوشٍ كَثِيرَةٍ، وَقَدِ اجْتَمَعَ إِلَى سُلَيْمَانَ كَثِيرٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشِّقَاقِ وَمَنْ يُرِيدُ الْفِتْنَةَ، فَالْتَقَيَا وَاقْتَتَلَا، وَاشْتَدَّتِ الْحَرْبُ، فَانْهَزَمَ سُلَيْمَانُ وَاتَّبَعَهُ عَسْكَرُ الْحَكَمِ، وَعَادَتِ الْحَرْبُ بَيْنَهُمْ ثَانِيَةً فِي ذِي الْحِجَّةِ، فَانْهَزَمَ فِيهَا سُلَيْمَانُ، وَاعْتَصَمَ بِالْوَعْرِ وَالْجِبَالِ، فَعَادَ الْحَكَمُ. ثُمَّ عَادَ سُلَيْمَانُ فَجَمَعَ بَرَابِرَ، وَأَقْبَلَ إِلَى جَانِبِ إِسْتِجَةَ، فَسَارَ إِلَيْهِمُ الْحَكَمُ، فَالْتَقَوْا وَاقْتَتَلُوا سَنَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَثَمَانِينَ وَمِائَةٍ، وَاشْتَدَّ الْقِتَالُ، فَانْهَزَمَ سُلَيْمَانُ، وَاحْتَمَى بِقَرْيَةٍ، فَحَصَرَهُ الْحَكَمُ، وَعَادَ سُلَيْمَانُ ( مُنْهَزِمًا ) إِلَى نَاحِيَةِ فِرِّيشَ ). ( وَفِيهَا كَانَ بِقُرْطُبَةَ سَيْلٌ عَظِيمٌ، فَغَرِقَ كَثِيرٌ مِنْ رَبَضِهَا الْقِبْلِيِّ، وَخَرِبَ كَثِيرٌ مِنْهُ، وَبَلَغَ السَّيْلُ شَقُنْدَةَ ). وَفِيهَا رَجَعَ يَحْيَى بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْبَرْمَكِيُّ مِنْ مُجَاوَرَتِهِ بِمَكَّةَ إِلَى بَغْدَادَ  . وَحَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ فِيهَا مُوسَى بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ مُوسَى بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ.

Translation

✧ In the year 182 AH, the daughter of the Khāqān, king of the Khazars, was brought to al-Faḍl b. Yaḥyā; she died in Bardhaʿah, so those with her returned to her father and told him that she had been killed treacherously, and he prepared to march against the lands of Islam. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Ṣāliḥ raided the summer expedition and reached Afsusus, the city of the Companions of the Cave. In it, the Byzantines put out the eyes of their king, Qusṭanṭīn b. Alyūn, and confirmed his mother Rīnī, who was nicknamed ʿAṭsah. Mūsā b. ʿĪsā b. Mūsā led the people in the pilgrimage. Harthamah b. Aʿyan was governor of Mosul. In it, Sulaymān b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, lord of al-Andalus, crossed from the east to the lands of al-Andalus, and sought war against his nephew, al-Ḥakam b. Hishām b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, lord of the country. Al-Ḥakam marched against him with many armies, while many people of dissension and those seeking turmoil had gathered to Sulaymān. They met and fought, and the battle intensified; Sulaymān was defeated and al-Ḥakam's army pursued him. The war returned between them a second time in Dhū al-Ḥijjah, in which Sulaymān was defeated and sought refuge in rugged terrain and mountains, and al-Ḥakam returned. Then Sulaymān returned and gathered Berbers, and advanced toward the vicinity of Istijjah. Al-Ḥakam marched against them, and they met and fought in the year 183 AH; the fighting intensified, and Sulaymān was defeated and took refuge in a village, where al-Ḥakam besieged him. Sulaymān fled again to the area of Firrīsh. In it there was a great flood in Cordoba, and much of its southern suburb was submerged, and much of it was ruined, and the flood reached Shaqandah. In it, Yaḥyā b. Khālid al-Barmakī returned from his residence in Makkah to Baghdad. Mūsā b. ʿĪsā b. Mūsā b. Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh b. al-ʿAbbās led the people in the pilgrimage in it.
