Chapter mentioning a group of the prophets of the Israelites after Mūsā (peace be upon him)

Translation

✧ [The kings] who were in the time of Ḥizqīl It is said that in the time of Ḥizqīl there were among the kings: Bukht Naṣṣar the Babylonian, and he is the one who annihilated the kings of the people of that time, because he used to conquer fortresses and kill those in them. In that time there were several prophets, among them: Armiyāʾ and Dānyāl. When the Jews fled from Bukht Naṣṣar to Egypt, they took Armiyāʾ and Dānyāl with them. When they brought him down to the land of Egypt, they killed him, and a group of them went to the land of Bābil and fell upon Ḥizqīl and killed him and buried him there. When Ḥizqīl was taken—and he did not mention the duration of his remaining among the Children of Israel—events multiplied among them, so Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sent Ilyās to them. Some scholars place Ḥizqīl after Ilyās. The disagreement over the precedence and succession of the prophets is varied among the transmitters, and we choose what is most correct according to us.
