Translation
✧ Summary of the story of al-Yasaʿ ﷺ He is al-Yasaʿ b. ʿAdī b. Shūwaylikh b. Ifrāʾīm b. Yūsuf b. Yaʿqūb. The people of knowledge have differed concerning his time. It was said he was with the Prophet of Allah Ilyās, devoting himself to him, and he was afflicted, so he supplicated for him and Allah, exalted is He, healed him and granted him prophethood. He remained among his people calling them to Allah, exalted is He, until Allah, glorified is He, took him in death. After him, ʿAylūq, a man from among their righteous ones, rose over the Children of Israel. He had two wicked sons, and he did not become angry for Allah at the deed of either of them, so Allah, mighty and majestic is He, replaced him with Ashmūʾīl and sent him ﷺ as a prophet to them. When the affair of the Children of Israel passed after the death of al-Yasaʿ, and they had experienced events and corruption, they used to go out with the Ark when they wanted to fight anyone, until they went out once in a battle and their enemy took it from them. It remained with their enemy until Allah sent them Ṭālūt as king.
