The group except Abū Dāwūd narrated from Ṭalḥah b. Muṣarrif who said: I asked Ibn Abī Awfā: Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ make a bequest? He said: No. I said: How is it that he imposed it upon the people and commanded it, yet did not make a bequest? He said: He bequeathed the Book of Allah. Abū Dāwūd and Ibn Mājah narrated from ʿAlī ؓ who said: The last words of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were: "Prayer and what your right hands possess," his soul gurgling with them.
