Translation
✧ Mention of his ﷺ going around among the people at Tabūk The shaykhs of Muḥammad b. ʿUmar said: There was a man of Banū ʿUdhrah called ʿAdī who used to say: I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ at Tabūk and saw him on a red camel going around among the people, saying: "O people, the hand of God is above the hand of the giver, and the hand of the giver is the middle one, and the hand of the recipient is the lower one. O people, sing and be content, even with bundles of firewood. O God, have I conveyed?" three times. I said: O Messenger of God, my two wives fought, and I struck one of them, and she was struck in my throw—meaning that she died. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "You pay blood-money for her and do not inherit from her." Then the Messenger of God ﷺ sat in the place of his mosque at Tabūk and looked toward the right, raising his hand pointing to the people of Yemen, and said: "Faith is Yemeni." And he looked toward the east and pointed with his hand, saying: "Indeed, harshness and coarseness of hearts are among the camel-owning people of the east, from where Satan raises his two horns." Mention of his ﷺ saying at Tabūk: I have been given five things none before me was given Muḥammad b. ʿUmar narrated from ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar ؓ who said: We were with the Messenger of God ﷺ at Tabūk. He got up at night to pray, and he used to pray much at night, and he never got up without using the tooth-stick. One night he got up, and when he finished he turned to those who were with him and said: "Tonight I have been given five things none before me was given: I was sent to all people—whereas a prophet was sent to his own people—and the earth was made for me a mosque and a means of purification; wherever prayer overtakes me, I perform tayammum and pray. Those before me were not given that; they would pray only in churches and synagogues. And spoils of war were made lawful for me to consume; those before me used to forbid them. And the fifth, it is what it is, it is what it is, it is what it is"—three times. They said: O Messenger of God, what is it? He said: "It was said to me: 'Ask,' for every prophet had asked. So it is for you and for whoever bears witness that there is no god but God." Mention of the Muslims selling their weapons and saying: Jihād has ceased Ibn Saʿd said: The Muslims began selling their weapons and saying: Jihād has ceased. This reached the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he forbade them, saying: "A band of my community will continue to fight for the truth until the Dajjāl emerges." Mention of his ﷺ ruling concerning a man who bit another and whose front tooth was pulled out From Yaʿlā b. Umayyah ؓ: The Messenger of God ﷺ was brought a hired worker of his who had quarreled with a man from the army, and that man bit him. The hired worker pulled his hand out of the biter's mouth and pulled out his front tooth. The biter took him to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and I stood with my hired worker to see what he would do. The Messenger of God ﷺ was brought the two of them and said: "Would one of you deliberately bite his brother as a stallion bites?" So the Messenger of God ﷺ invalidated what he had suffered regarding his front tooth, and said: "Would he leave his hand in your mouth for you to gnaw it, as if it were in the mouth of a stallion gnawing it?" Bukhārī and others narrated it.
