The Expedition of Khaybar
رَدِّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْأَنْصَارِ مَا مَنَحُوهُ لِلْمُهَاجِرِينَ رَوَى الشَّيْخَانِ، وَالْحَافِظُ، وَيَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ قَدِمُوا وَلَيْسَ بِأَيْدِيهمْ شَيْءٌ، وَكَانَ الْأَنْصَارُ أَهْلَ أَرْضٍ وَعَقَارٍ، فَقَاسَمَهُمُ الْأَنْصَارُ عَلَى أَنْ أَعْطَوْهُمْ أَنْصَافَ ثِمَارِ أَمْوَالِهِمْ كُلَّ عَامٍ، وَيَكْفُوهُمُ الْعَمَلَ وَالْمُؤْنَةَ، وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ أَنَسٍ أَعْطَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَعْذَاقًا لَهَا، فَأَعْطَاهُنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أُمَّ أَيْمَنَ مَوْلَاتَهُ أُمَّ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ أَهْلِ خَيْبَرَ، وَانْصَرَفَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ، رَدَّ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ إِلَى الْأَنْصَارِ مَنَائِحَهُمُ الَّتِي كَانُوا قَدْ مَنَحُوهُمْ مِنْ ثِمَارِهِمْ، وَرَدَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى أُمِّي أَعْذَاقَهَا. وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَعْطَانِيهِنَّ، فَجَاءَتْ أُمُّ أَيْمَنَ فَجَعَلَتِ الثَّوْبَ فِي عُنُقِي، وَجَعَلَتْ تَقُولُ: كَلَّا وَاللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ لَا يُعْطِيكَهُنَّ وَقَدْ أَعْطَانِيهِنَّ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَا أُمَّ أَيْمَنَ اتْرُكِي وَلَكِ كَذَا وَكَذَا» وَهِيَ تَقُولُ: كَلَّا - وَاللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ، فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ: لَكِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَلَكِ كَذَا» وَهِيَ تَقُولُ: كَلَّا وَاللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ حَتَّى أَعْطَاهَا عَشَرَةَ أَمْثَالِهَا أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْ عَشَرَةِ أَمْثَالِهَا.
Translation
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returning to the Ansar what they had granted to the Muhajirun The two Shaykhs, al-Hafiẓ, and Yaʿqūb b. Sufyān narrated from Anas ؓ who said: When the Muhajirun came from Makkah to Madinah, they arrived with nothing in their hands, while the Ansar were people of land and property. So the Ansar shared with them on the basis that they gave them half of the fruits of their wealth every year, and they would take care of the work and the expenses. Umm Anas had given the Messenger of Allah ﷺ some date-palm clusters of hers, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave them to Umm Ayman, his freedwoman, the mother of Usāma b. Zayd. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished with the people of Khaybar and returned to Madinah, the Muhajirun returned to the Ansar the gifts they had granted them of their fruits, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned to my mother her date-palm clusters. In another narration: I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he gave them to me. Then Umm Ayman came and put the cloth around my neck and began saying: "No, by Allah, besides whom there is no god, he will not give them to you, for he had given them to me." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O Umm Ayman, leave him, and you shall have such and such." But she kept saying: "No, by Allah, besides whom there is no god." He kept saying: "You shall have such and such, and you shall have such and such," while she kept saying: "No, by Allah, besides whom there is no god," until he gave her ten times its like or close to ten times its like.
