The Expedition of Dhat al-Riqa'
Translation
✧ The story of the camel that complained to him of its condition. Al-Bazzār, al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ, and Abū Nuʿaym narrated from Jābir ؓ, who said: We returned from the expedition of Dhāt al-Riqāʿ, until when we were at the descent of the ḥarra, a camel came forward trotting. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Do you know what this camel said? ‘This is a camel who seeks my help against his master. He claims that he used to plough on him for years, and that he intended to slaughter him. Go, O Jābir, to his owner and bring him to me.’ I said: ‘I do not know him.’ He said: ‘He will guide you to him.’ So it went out before me, submissively, until it stopped at its owner. I brought the owner, and he ﷺ spoke to him concerning the camel’s affair.”
