The Expedition of Dhat al-Riqa'
قِصَّةُ جَمَلِ جَابِرٍ ؓ رَوَى الْإِمَامُ أَحْمَدُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ ؓ قَالَ: فَقُدْتُ جَمَلِي فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُظْلِمَةٍ، فَمَرَرْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: «مَا لَكَ”. فَقَلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ!! فَقُدْتُ جَمَلِي، فَقَالَ: «ذَاكَ جَمَلُكَ، اذْهَبْ فَخُذْهُ”. فَذَهَبْتُ نَحْوَ مَا قَالَ فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، فَذَهَبْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهِ، فَانْطَلَقَ مَعِي حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا الْجَمَلَ، فَدَفَعَهُ إِلَيَّ.
Translation
✧ The Story of Jābir’s Camel ؓ Imām Aḥmad narrated from Jābir ؓ who said: I led my camel on a dark night, and I passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: “What is the matter with you?” I said: O Messenger of Allah!! I led my camel. He said: “That is your camel; go and take it.” So I went in the direction he indicated but did not find it, and I returned to him. He said the like of that, so I went but did not find it, and I returned to him. Then he set out with me until we came to the camel, and he handed it over to me.
