مَا أَخْبَرْنَاهُ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حَمْدَانَ الْجَلَّابُ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ الْخَزَّارُ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ

قَامَ إِلَى جَنْبِي عُبَادَةُ بْنُ الصَّامِتِ فَقَرَأَ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قُلْتُ يَا أَبَا الْوَلِيدِ تَقْرَأُ وَتُسْمِعُ وَهُوَ يَجْهَرُ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِنَّا قَرَأْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَغَلِطَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ سَبَّحَ فَقَالَ لَنَا حِينَ انْصَرَفَ «هَلْ قَرَأَ مَعِي أَحَدٌ؟» قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ قَدْ عَجِبْتُ قُلْتُ مِنْ هَذَا الَّذِي يُنَازِعُنِي الْقُرْآنَ إِذَا قَرَأَ الْإِمَامُ فَلَا تَقْرَءُوا إِلَّا بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا صَلَاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِهَا

✧ Ubadah b. al-Samit stood beside me and recited with the imam while he was reciting. When he finished, I said: "O Abu al-Walid, you recite and I hear, while he recites aloud?" He said: "Yes, we recited with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ erred, then he said subhan Allah. When he finished, he said to us: 'Did anyone recite with me?' We said: 'Yes.' He said: 'I was amazed. I said: Who is this contending with me over the Qur'an? When the imam recites, do not recite except with Umm al-Qur'an, for there is no prayer for one who does not recite it.'"
