✧ Abu al-Tahir and Abu al-Rabi' al-Misri narrated to us, they said: Abdullah b. Wahb narrated to us, Abd al-Rahman b. Shuraih informed me from Rabi'ah b. Sayf al-Ma'afiri from Ishaq b. Abdullah that Awf b. Malik al-Ashja'i came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during a victory of his, greeted him, then said, "Congratulations to you, O Messenger of Allah. Allah has strengthened your victory, made your religion prevail, and war has laid down its burdens." He said, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in a tent of leather. He said, "Enter, O Awf." He said, "Shall I enter all of me or part of me?" He said, "Enter all of you." He said, "War will not lay down its burdens until there are six things. The first of them is my death." Awf wept. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Say: one. The second is the conquest of Jerusalem. The third is a fitnah that will occur among the people like the scab of sheep. The fourth is a fitnah that will occur among the people in which no household will remain except their share of it will enter upon them. The fifth is that a boy will be born among Banu al-Asfar from the children of kings. He will grow in a day as a boy grows in a week, and grow in a week as a boy grows in a month, and grow in a month as a boy grows in a year. When he reaches twelve years, they will make him king over them. He will stand among them and say, 'How long will these people overcome us in the noble parts of our land? I think we should march against them until we expel them from it.' The orators stood up and praised his opinion. He sent to the islands and the mainland for the construction of ships. Then he loaded fighters into them until he landed between Antioch and al-Arish." Ibn Shuraih said, "I heard someone say that they were twelve companies, under each company twelve thousand. The Muslims will gather to their leader in Jerusalem and agree in their opinion to march to the city of the Messenger ﷺ until their outposts are at al-Sarh and Khaybar." Ibn Abi Ja'far said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "They will drive my ummah from the places where wormwood grows." He said, or al-Harith b. Yazid said, "They will stay there. A third will flee from them, a third will be killed, and Allah ﷻ will defeat them with the patient third." Khalid b. Yazid said, "On that day, by Allah, he will strike with his sword and thrust with his spear, and the Muslims will follow him until they reach the narrow pass near Constantinople. They will find that its water has dried up, so they will cross to the city until they camp there. Allah will demolish their walls with takbir. Then they will enter it and divide their wealth by shields." Abu Qabil al-Ma'afiri said, "While they are in that state, a rider will come to them and say, 'You are here while the Dajjal has gone to your families.' It was only a lie. Whoever heard the scholars regarding that remained upon what he had attained, but others dispersed. The Muslims will build mosques in Constantinople and raid beyond that until the Dajjal emerges—the sixth."
