✧ I heard a man say to Abdullah b. Amr, "You say that the Hour will arise at such and such time." He said, "I had resolved not to narrate anything to you. I only said to you: after a short while you will see a great matter." That was the burning of the House. Shu'bah said: Abdullah b. Amr said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Dajjal will emerge among my ummah and remain among them for forty"—I do not know whether he said days, or forty years, or forty nights, or forty months—"then Allah will send Isa son of Maryam ﷺ, as if he were Urwah b. Mas'ud al-Thaqafi. He will seek him and destroy him. Then people will remain after him for years with no enmity between any two. Then Allah will send a wind from the direction of Syria, and no one will remain in whose heart is the weight of an atom of faith except it will take his soul, even if one of you were in the heart of a mountain, it would enter upon him." Abdullah said, "I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The worst of people will remain, in the lightness of birds and the minds of beasts. They will not recognize any good nor reject any evil. The devil will appear to them and say, 'Will you not respond?' He will command them to worship idols, and they will worship them, and while they are in that state their provisions will flow and their livelihood will be good. Then the trumpet will be blown, and no one will hear it except he will incline his ear. The first to hear it will be a man plastering his watering trough, and he will be stunned. Then no one will remain except he is stunned. Then Allah will send—or Allah will send down—rain like shade or dew. Al-Nu'man, the doubter, said: their bodies will grow. Then it will be blown again, and behold, they will be standing looking. Then it will be said, 'Come to your Lord.' 'And stop them, indeed they are to be questioned.' Then it will be said, 'Bring out the contingent of the Fire.' It will be said, 'How many?' It will be said, 'From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine.' On that day, 'children will be made gray-haired' and 'the shin will be uncovered.'"
