✧ We were with Hudhayfah in this mosque, and he said: “Tribulations have come to you, throwing with violence; then the one after it throws with crushing; then the one after it is dark. There is no man among you, until he sees what you see, who has not seen the tribulation of the Messiah, and then he will never see it.” He said: Among us was a bedouin from Rabi'ah—there was no living person among us other than him. He said: Glory be to Allah, O companions of Muhammad ﷺ! How can that be with the Messiah, when he has been described to us as broad of forehead, prominent of neck, and wide between the shoulders? Then I saw Hudhayfah pause from it for a moment. He said: I adjure you by Allah, do you know how I said it? He said: You said: “There is no man among you, until he sees what you see, who has not seen the tribulation of the Dajjal, and then he will never see it.” He said: Then I saw Hudhayfah struggling with his face. He said: I said: Is it because he preserved the hadith as it is? He said: Yes. Then he said a weak word: “Do you consider the Day of the House, yesterday? For it was a general tribulation that enveloped the people.” He said: Among us was a bedouin from Rabi'ah—there was no living person among us other than him. He said: Glory be to Allah, O companions of Muhammad! Then where are those who drive our camels and dig into our houses? He said: “Those are the transgressors,” twice. He said: “I went out on the day of Jara'ah, and I knew that not a cupping glass of blood was shed in it, and I forbade none but Ibn al-Hisramah.” Among us was a bedouin from Rabi'ah—there was no living person among us other than him. He said: Glory be to Allah, O companions of Muhammad ﷺ! Ibn al-Hisramah to the exclusion of others? He said: “When it approaches, it is for the one who stands and the one who speaks; Ibn al-Hisramah is a man of much speech.”
