✧ Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, narrated to me: I was standing before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a scholar from among the Jewish rabbis came to him and said, "Peace be upon you, O Muhammad." I pushed him with a shove that almost knocked him down. He said, "Why do you push me?" I said, "Why do you not say, 'O Messenger of Allah'?" The Jew said, "We call him by the name his family gave him." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "My name, which my family gave me, is Muhammad." The Jew said, "I have come to ask you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Will it benefit you if I tell you?" He said, "I will listen with my ears." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ scratched the ground with a stick he had and said, "Ask." The Jew said, "Where will the people be on the Day when the earth is changed to another earth and the heavens too?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "In darkness, before the gathering." He said, "Who will be the first of the people to pass?" He said, "The poor among the emigrants." He said, "What will be their gift when they enter Paradise?" He said, "An extra portion of the liver of the whale." He said, "What will be their food after that?" He said, "The bull of Paradise, which ate from its outskirts, will be slaughtered for them." He said, "What will be their drink with it?" He said, "A river called Salsabil." He said, "You have spoken the truth. It is according to the conditions of al-Bukhari and Muslim."
