أَخْبَرْنَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ثنا أَبُو مُوسَى وَبِنْدَارٌ قَالَا ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ
كَانَ لِرَجُلٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ تَمْرٌ فَأَتَاهُ يَتَقَاضَاهُ فَاسْتَقْرَضَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتِ حَكِيمٍ تَمْرًا فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ وَقَالَ «أَمَا أَنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ عِنْدِي تَمْرٌ لَكِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ عَثَرِيًّا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «كَذَلِكَ يَفْعَلُ عِبَادُ اللَّهِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَتَرَحَّمُ عَلَى أُمَّةٍ لَا يَأْخُذُ الضَّعِيفُ مِنْهُمْ حَقَّهُ غَيْرَ مُتَعْتَعٍ»

✧ A man had dates owed to him by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he came to him demanding payment. The Prophet ﷺ borrowed dates from Khawlah bt. Hakim and gave them to him, saying: “Indeed, I had dates, but they were of poor quality (ʿathariyy).” Then he said: “Thus do the believing servants of Allah act. Indeed, Allah does not show mercy to a nation where the weak among them cannot take their right without difficulty.”
