حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي قَتَادَةُ بْنُ دِعَامَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ
«سَيَكُونُ فِي أُمَّتِي اخْتِلَافٌ وَفُرْقَةٌ قَوْمٌ يُحْسِنُونَ الْقِيلَ وَيُسِيئُونَ الْفِعْلَ وَيَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ مُرُوقَ السَّهْمِ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ حَتَّى يُرَدَّ عَلَى فَوْقِهِ شَرُّ الْخَلْقِ وَالْخَلِيقَةِ طُوبَى لِمَنْ قَتَلَهُمْ وَقَتَلُوهُ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى كِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَلَيْسُوا مِنْهُ فِي شَيْءٍ مَنْ قَاتَلَهُمْ كَانَ أَوْلَى بِاللَّهِ مِنْهُمْ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَمَا سِيمَاهُمْ؟ قَالَ «التَّحْلِيقُ»
Translation

✧ There will be in my nation disagreement and division: a people who speak well but act badly, reciting the Qur'an but it does not go beyond their collarbones. They will pass out of the religion as an arrow passes through the game, not returning until it is returned to its bowstring. They are the worst of creation and creatures. Blessed is the one who kills them and whom they kill. They call to the Book of Allah, but they are not from it in anything. Whoever fights them is closer to Allah than them." They said: O Messenger of Allah, what is their sign? He said: "Shaving."
