✧ He prayed with his companions, and there was no prayer in which he was more concise. It was said to him: 'O Abu al-Yaqzan, you have made it light.' He said: 'There is no blame on me for that. I supplicated in it with supplications I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said: A man—who was Abu 'Ata'—stood up and followed him, asking about the supplication. So he returned and came and reported: 'O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, keep me alive as long as You know life is better for me, and cause me to die when death is better for me. O Allah, I ask You for fear of You in secret and in public, and I ask You for the word of wisdom in anger and pleasure, and I ask You for moderation in wealth and poverty. I ask You for delight that does not perish, and I ask You for coolness of eyes that does not run out or cease. I ask You for contentment after the decree, and I ask You for a pleasant life after death. I ask You for the delight of looking at Your Face, and I ask You for longing to meet You without harmful adversity or misleading trial. O Allah, adorn us with the adornment of faith and make us guides who are guided.'
