✧ "Whoever grows a gray hair in Islam—or he said: in the path of God—it will be light for him on the Day of Resurrection, as long as he does not dye it or pluck it."

✧ I saw myself when I was a quarter of Islam. I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: O Messenger of God, who has followed you upon this matter? He said: A free man and a slave.

✧ We besieged with the Prophet ﷺ the fortress of al-Ta'if, and I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: Whoever shoots an arrow in the path of God, it is for him equal to freeing a slave. That day I shot sixteen arrows. Then I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: Whoever shoots an arrow in the path of God, Mighty and Majestic, it is for him a degree in Paradise. Whoever grows a gray hair in Islam, it will be light for him on the Day of Resurrection. Any Muslim man who frees a Muslim man, God, Mighty and Majestic, will make for him, as a shield, every bone of his bones a freed slave from the Fire. And any Muslim woman who frees a Muslim woman, God, Mighty and Majestic, will make for her, as a shield, every bone of her bones a freed slave from the Fire.

✧ There was a treaty between Mu'awiya and the Byzantines. He was traveling in their lands, and when the treaty expired, he raided them. There was a man on a mount—or on a horse—saying: God is greatest. Loyalty, not treachery—twice—and it was 'Amr b. 'Abasa al-Sulami. Mu'awiya said to him: What are you saying? 'Amr said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: Whoever has a treaty between him and a people, let him not loosen a knot nor tighten it until its term has elapsed or he gives them notice on equal terms. So Mu'awiya returned with the people.
