    قُلْتُ لِلزُّبَيْرِ ؓ: مَا يَمْنَعُكَ أَنْ تُحَدِّثَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَمَا يُحَدِّثُ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَفُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ ؟ فَقَالَ: أَمَا وَاللهِ مَا فَارَقْتُهُ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ، وَلَكِنِّي سَمِعْتُهُ قَالَ كَلِمَةً، قَالَ: مَنْ قَالَ عَلَيَّ مَا لَمْ أَقُلْ فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ

    ✧ I said to al-Zubayr ؓ: “What prevents you from narrating from the Messenger of God ﷺ as Ibn Mas'ud and so-and-so and so-and-so narrate?” He said: “By God, I have not been separated from him since I embraced Islam, but I heard him say a word. He said: ‘Whoever says about me what I did not say, let him take his seat in the Fire.’”

    " كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ، ثُمَّ نَبْتَدِرُ الْفَيْءَ، فَمَا يَكُونُ إِلَّا مَوْضِعُ الْقَدَمِ أَوِ الْقَدَمَيْنِ

    ✧ We used to pray the Friday prayer with the Messenger of God ﷺ, then we would hurry to the shade, and there would be only the space of a foot or two feet.

    " سَمِعْنَا الزُّبَيْرَ ؓ وَهُوَ يَتْلُو هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ وَاتَّقُوا فِتْنَةً لا تُصِيبَنَّ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْكُمْ خَاصَّةً قَالَ: وَلَقَدْ تَلَوْتُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ زَمَانًا وَمَا أُرَانِي مِنْ أَهْلِهَا، فَأَصْبَحْنَا مِنْ أَهْلِهَا

    ✧ We heard al-Zubayr ؓ reciting this verse: “And fear a trial which will not strike those who have wronged among you exclusively.” He said: “I recited this verse for a long time and did not think I was among its people, but we have become among its people.”

    " دَبَّ إِلَيْكُمْ دَاءُ الْأُمَمِ قَبْلَكُمُ: الْحَسَدُ، وَالْبَغْضَاءُ، وَالْبَغْضَاءُ هِيَ الْحَالِقَةُ، لَا أَقُولُ تَحْلِقُ الشَّعَرَ، وَلَكِنَّهَا تَحْلِقُ الدِّينَ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَا تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا، وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّى تَحَابُّوا، أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِمَا يُثَبِّتُ ذَاكَ لَكُمْ: أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ بَيْنَكُمْ

    ✧ The disease of the nations before you has crept upon you: envy and hatred. Hatred is the shaver; I do not say it shaves hair, but it shaves religion. By the One in whose hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I tell you what will make that firm for you? Spread peace among yourselves.”
