11. ✧ The letter Zay

    إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَلْعَقْ أَصَابِعَهُ الثَّلَاثَ؛ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي فِي أَيَّتِهِنَّ الْبَرَكَةُ

    ✧ When one of you eats, let him lick his three fingers, for he does not know in which of them the blessing lies.

    إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَقْبِضُ الْعِلْمَ انْتِزَاعًا يَنْتَزِعُهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ، وَلَكِنْ يَقْبِضُ الْعِلْمَ بِقَبْضِ الْعُلَمَاءِ، حَتَّى إِذَا لَمْ يَبْقَ عَالِمًا اتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ جُهَّالًا، فَسُئِلُوا، فَأَفْتَوْا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ، فَضَلُّوا، وَأَضَلُّوا

    ✧ God does not take away knowledge by snatching it away from people, but He takes away knowledge by taking away the scholars, until when no scholar remains, people take ignorant leaders. They are asked and they give legal opinions without knowledge, so they go astray and lead others astray.

    الْمُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ، وَالْمُهَاجِرُ مَنْ هَجَرَ مَا نَهَى اللهُ عَنْهُ

    ✧ The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe, and the emigrant is the one who abandons what God has forbidden.

    اذْكُرُوا مَحَاسِنَ مَوْتَاكُمْ، وَكُفُّوا عَنْ مَسَاوِيهِمْ

    ✧ Mention the good qualities of your dead, and refrain from mentioning their faults.

    بَلِّغُوا عَنِّي وَلَوْ آيَةً، وَحَدِّثُوا عَنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَا حَرَجَ، وَمَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ

    ✧ Convey from me even if it is a single verse, and relate from the Children of Israel, and there is no harm in that. And whoever deliberately lies about me, let him take his seat in the Fire.

    أُمِرْتُ بِالنَّعْلَيْنِ وَالْخَاتَمِ

    ✧ I was commanded to wear sandals and a ring.

    خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَفِي يَدَيْهِ [ يَدِهِ ] صُرَّتَانِ إِحْدَاهُمَا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، وَالْأُخْرَى مِنْ حَرِيرٍ، فَقَالَ: هَذَانِ حَرَامٌ عَلَى الذُّكُورِ مِنْ أُمَّتِي، حَلَالٌ لِلْإِنَاثِ

    ✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ came out to us with two bundles in his hand, one of gold and the other of silk. He said, "These two are forbidden for the males of my community and lawful for the females."

    أَيُّمَا وَالٍ وُلِّيَ شَيْئًا مِنْ أَمْرِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، فَلَمْ يَنْصَحْ لَهُمْ، وَلَمْ يَجْهَدْ لَهُمْ كَنُصْحِهِ وَجَهْدِهِ لِنَفْسِهِ، كَبَّهُ اللهُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي النَّارِ

    ✧ Any ruler who is put in charge of some affair of the Muslims and does not act sincerely toward them or strive for them as he strives for himself, God will cast him on his face into the Fire on the Day of Resurrection.
