   صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِمِنًى - آمَنَ مَا كَانَ النَّاسُ وَأَكْثَرَهُ - رَكْعَتَيْنِ

   ✧ I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Mina two rak'ahs, when the people were most secure and most numerous.

   تَصَدَّقُوا فَإِنَّهُ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ الرَّجُلُ بِصَدَقَتِهِ فَلَا يَجِدُ مَنْ يَقْبَلُهَا

   ✧ Give charity, for it is near that a man will go out with his charity and not find anyone to accept it.

   لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ الْجَوَّاظُ، وَلَا الْجَعْظَرِيُّ

   ✧ The arrogant boaster and the one who is coarse and self-important will not enter Paradise.

   أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ؟ كُلُّ ضَعِيفٍ مُتَضَعِّفٍ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ، وَأَهْلُ النَّارِ كُلُّ مُسْتَكْبِرٍ جَوَّاظٍ

   ✧ Shall I not guide you to the people of Paradise? Every weak, humble person who, if he were to swear by Allah, He would fulfill it for him; and the people of the Fire are every arrogant, coarse person.

   حَجَجْتُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَإِذَا بِرَجُلٍ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ وَهُوَ يَرْتَجِزُ: رُدَّ عَلَيَّ رَاكِبِي مُحَمَّدَا رُدَّهُ لِي وَاصْطَنِعْ عِنْدِي يَدًا قُلْتُ: مَنْ هَذَا يَعْنِي ؟ فَقَالُوا: عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ، ذَهَبَتْ إِبِلٌ لَهُ، فَأَرْسَلَ ابْنَ ابْنِهِ فِي طَلَبِهَا، فَاحْتُبِسَ عَلَيْهِ، وَلَمْ يُرْسِلْهُ فِي حَاجَةٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا جَاءَ بِهَا، قَالَ: فَمَا بَرِحْتُ حَتَّى جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَجَاءَ بِالْإِبِلِ، فَقَالَ: يَا بُنَيَّ، لَقَدْ حَزِنْتُ عَلَيْكَ هَذِهِ الْمَرَّةَ حُزْنًا لَا يُفَارِقُنِي أَبَدًا

   ✧ I performed Hajj in the pre-Islamic period, and there was a man circumambulating the House while reciting rajaz: 'Return to me my rider Muhammad; return him to me and do me a favor.' I said: 'Who is this, meaning?' They said: 'Abd al-Muttalib b. Hashim. Some camels of his went astray, so he sent his son's son in search of them. He was detained from him, and he never sent him on an errand except that he came back with it fulfilled.' He said: 'It was not long before the Prophet ﷺ came with the camels. He said: "O my son, I have grieved for you this time with a grief that will never leave me."

   قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عَلِّمْنِي تَعَوُّذًا أَتَعَوَّذُ بِهِ، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي، فَقَالَ: قُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي، وَمِنْ شَرِّ سَمْعِي، وَمِنْ شَرِّ بَصَرِي، وَمِنْ شَرِّ قَلْبِي، وَمِنْ شَرِّ لِسَانِي، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَنِيِّي

   ✧ I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, teach me a supplication of seeking refuge that I may use.' He took my hand and said: 'Say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul, from the evil of my hearing, from the evil of my sight, from the evil of my heart, from the evil of my tongue, and from the evil of my private part.'

   كُنْتُ جَالِسًا إِلَى يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ أَيَّامَ الْحَجَّاجِ وَهُوَ يُعَذِّبُ النَّاسَ، فَذَكَرَ رَجُلًا فِي السِّجْنِ، فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِ بِغَيْظٍ وَغَضَبٍ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ، فَلَمَّا قَامَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ رَأَيْتُ الرَّجُلَ حَرَّكَ شَفَتَيْهِ بِشَيْءٍ لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ، فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: خَلُّوا سَبِيلَهُ أَوْ قَالَ: رُدُّوهُ. قَالَ: فَقُمْتُ إِلَى الرَّجُلِ فَقُلْتُ: إِنِّي شَهِدْتُ هَذَا حِينَ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْكَ بِغَيْظٍ وَغَضَبٍ، وَلَا أَشُكُّ أَنَّهُ سَيَقَعُ بِكَ، فَلَمَّا قُمْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ رَأَيْتُكَ حَرَّكْتَ شَفَتَيْكَ بِشَيْءٍ لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ، فَأَمَرَ فِيكَ بِمَا تَرَى، فَمَا الَّذِي قُلْتَ ؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ الَّتِي تُمْسِكُ بِهَا السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعَ أَنْ يَقَعَ بَعْضُهُنَّ عَلَى بَعْضٍ أَنْ تَكْفِينِيهِ

   ✧ I was sitting with Yazid b. Abi Muslim during the days of al-Hajjaj while he was torturing people. He mentioned a man in prison, and he sent for him with rage and anger. So the man was brought, and when he stood before him, I saw the man move his lips with something I could not hear. Then he raised his head to him and said: 'Release him,' or he said: 'Return him.' He said: 'I went to the man and said: "I witnessed this when he sent for you with rage and anger, and I had no doubt that he would harm you. When you stood before him, I saw you move your lips with something I could not hear, and he ordered concerning you what you see. What did you say?" He said: "I said: O Allah, I ask You by Your power with which You hold the seven heavens, that some of them fall upon others, to suffice me against him."

   أَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي اللَّيْلَةِ: قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ فَإِنَّهَا تَعْدِلُ الْقُرْآنَ كُلَّهُ.

   ✧ Is any of you unable to recite in a night: 'Say: He is Allah, the One'? For it is equal to the entire Quran.

   كُنْتُ وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ أَرْمِي نَخْلَ الْأَنْصَارِ، فَقِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ: إِنَّ هَاهُنَا غُلَامًا يَرْمِي نَخْلَنَا، أَوْ قَالَ: يَرْمِي النَّخْلَ، قَالَ: فَأُتِيَ بِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: يَا غُلَامُ، لَا تَرْمِ النَّخْلَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: آكُلُ، قَالَ: لَا تَرْمِ النَّخْلَ، كُلْ مَا سَقَطَ، قَالَ: وَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ، وَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ أَشْبِعْ بَطْنَهُ

   ✧ I was a boy throwing stones at the date-palms of the Ansar. It was said to the Prophet ﷺ: 'Here is a boy throwing stones at our date-palms,' or he said: 'throwing stones at the date-palms.' He said: 'I was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: "O boy, do not throw stones at the date-palms." I said: "I eat [from them]." He said: "Do not throw stones at the date-palms; eat what falls." He said: 'And he wiped his head and said: "O Allah, fill his belly."
