حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، نَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْبَرِيدِ، عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَاضِي الرَّيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ يَقُولُ:
اجْتَمَعْتُ أَنَا وَفَاطِمَةُ، وَالْعَبَّاسُ، وَزَيْدُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ، فَقَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، كَبِرَتْ سِنِّي، وَرَقَّ عَظْمِي، وَكَثُرَتْ مَؤُونَتِي، فَإِنْ رَأَيْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنْ تَأْمُرَ لِي بِكَذَا وَكَذَا وَسْقًا مِنْ طَعَامٍ فَافْعَلْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " أَفْعَلُ "، فَقَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، كُنْتَ أَعْطَيْتَنِي أَرْضًا، كَانَ مَعِيشَتِي مِنْهَا ثُمَّ قَبَضْتَهَا، فَإِنْ رَأَيْتَ أَنْ تَرُدَّهَا عَلَيَّ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " نَفْعَلُ ذَاكَ ". فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنْ رَأَيْتَ أَنْ تُوَلِّيَنِي هَذَا الْحَقَّ الَّذِي جَعَلَهُ اللهُ لَكَ فِي كِتَابِهِ مِنْ هَذَا الْخُمُسِ فَاقْسِمْهُ فِي مَقَامِكَ كَيْ لَا يُنَازِعَنِي أَحَدٌ بَعْدَكَ فَافْعَلْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " نَفْعَلُ ذَاكَ "، فَوَلَّانِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِقِسْمَتِهِ فِي حَيَاتِهِ، ثُمَّ وَلَّانِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ فَقَسَمْتُهُ.

✧ I, Fatimah, al-Abbas, and Zayd b. Harithah gathered together. Al-Abbas said: “O Messenger of Allah, I have grown old, my bones have become weak, and my expenses have increased. If you see fit to order for me such-and-such amounts of food, do so.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I will do it.” Zayd b. Harithah said: “O Messenger of Allah, you had given me some land from which I earned my living, then you took it back. If you see fit to return it to me, please do.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “We will do that.” I said: “O Messenger of Allah, if you see fit to entrust me with this right that Allah has assigned to you in His Book from the fifth of the spoils, and let me distribute it during your lifetime so that no one disputes it with me after you, then do so.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “We will do that.” So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entrusted me with its distribution during his lifetime, and then Abu Bakr ؓ entrusted me with it, so I distributed it.
