أَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ، ثَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو الضَّبِّيُّ، ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، أَنْبَأَ شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ فَائِدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ ؓ قَالَ:
الشَّجَاعَةُ وَالْجُبْنُ غَرَائِزُ فِي النَّاسِ، تَلْقَى الرَّجُلَ يُقَاتِلُ عَمَّنْ لَا يَعْرِفُ، وَتَلْقَى الرَّجُلَ يَفِرُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَالْحَسَبُ الْمَالُ، وَالْكَرَمُ التَّقْوَى، لَسْتَ بِأَخْيَرَ مِنْ فَارِسِيٍّ، وَلَا عَجَمِيٍّ إِلَّا بِالتَّقْوَى
