Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited it: 'And We ordained for them therein: a life for a life, and an eye for an eye'; he put 'the life' in the accusative and raised 'the eye'.

  machine translationThis is a rejected (munkar) ḥadīth, and I do not know anyone who narrated from Yūnus b. Yazīd other than Ibn al-Mubārak. Abū ʿAlī b. Yazīd is unknown (majhūl). My father said: ʿUqayl narrates it from al-Zuhrī from the Prophet ﷺ as a mursal report. My father said: I am greatly wary of this ḥadīth from the Prophet ﷺ. Report a problem
