✧ When God, Mighty and Majestic, created Adam, He wiped his back, and from his back fell every soul He would create until the Day of Resurrection. He placed between the eyes of each person among them a glint of light. Then He presented them to Adam, who said: O Lord, who are these? He said: These are your descendants. He saw a man among them, and the glint between his eyes pleased him. He said: O Lord, who is this? He said: A man from your descendants in the last of the nations, called Dawud. He said: O Lord, how much lifetime have You set for him? He said: Sixty years. He said: Increase him forty years from my lifetime. He said: Then it would be written, sealed, and not changed. When Adam's lifetime ﷺ came to an end, the Angel of Death came to him. He said: Is there not remaining of my lifetime forty years? He said: Did you not give them to your son Dawud? So he denied, and his descendants denied; he forgot, and his descendants forgot; he erred, and his descendants erred.
