حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَنِ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:

إِنَّ اللهَ خَلَقَ آدَمَ مِنْ تُرَابٍ، ثُمَّ جَعَلَهُ طِينًا، ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ حَمَأً مَسْنُونًا، خَلَقَهُ وَصَوَّرَهُ، ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ صَلْصَالًا كَالْفَخَّارِ، قَالَ: فَكَانَ إِبْلِيسُ يَمُرُّ بِهِ، فَيَقُولُ: لَقَدْ خُلِقْتَ لِأَمْرٍ عَظِيمٍ، ثُمَّ نَفَخَ اللهُ فِيهِ رُوحَهُ، فَكَانَ أَوَّلَ شَيْءٍ جَرَى فِيهِ الرُّوحُ بَصَرُهُ وَخَيَاشِيمُهُ، فَعَطَسَ فَلَقَّاهُ اللهُ حَمْدَ رَبِّهِ، فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ: يَرْحَمُكَ رَبُّكَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ اللهُ: يَا آدَمُ اذْهَبْ إِلَى أُولَئِكَ النَّفَرِ، فَقُلْ لَهُمْ، وَانْظُرْ مَا يَقُولُونَ، فَجَاءَ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَقَالُوا: وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ، فَجَاءَ إِلَى رَبِّهِ، فَقَالَ: مَاذَا قَالُوا لَكَ ؟ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا قَالُوا لَهُ، قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ، لَمَّا سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ، قَالُوا: وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ، قَالَ: يَا آدَمُ، هَذَا تَحِيَّتُكَ وَتَحِيَّةُ ذُرِّيَّتِكَ، قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ، وَمَا ذُرِّيَّتِي ؟ قَالَ: اخْتَرْ يَدِي يَا آدَمُ، قَالَ: أَخْتَارُ يَمِينَ رَبِّي، وَكِلْتَا يَدَيْ رَبِّي يَمِينٌ، فَبَسَطَ اللهُ كَفَّهُ، فَإِذَا كُلُّ مَا هُوَ كَائِنٌ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِ فِي كَفِّ الرَّحْمَنِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَإِذَا رِجَالٌ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى أَفْوَاهِهِمُ النُّورُ، وَإِذَا رَجُلٌ يَعْجَبُ آدَمُ مِنْ نُورِهِ، قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ، مَنْ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ: ابْنُكَ دَاوُدُ، قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ، فَكَمْ جَعَلْتَ لَهُ مِنَ الْعُمُرِ ؟ قَالَ: جَعَلْتُ لَهُ سِتِّينَ، قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ، فَأَتِمَّ لَهُ مِنْ عُمُرِي حَتَّى يَكُونَ عُمُرُهُ مِائَةَ سَنَةٍ، فَفَعَلَ اللهُ وَأَشْهَدَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ، فَلَمَّا نَفِدَ عُمُرُ آدَمَ، بَعَثَ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ مَلَكَ الْمَوْتِ، فَقَالَ آدَمُ: أَوَلَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْ عُمُرِي أَرْبَعُونَ سَنَةً ؟ قَالَ الْمَلَكُ: أَلَمْ تُعْطِهَا ابْنَكَ دَاوُدَ ؟ فَجَحَدَ ذَلِكَ، فَجَحَدَتْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُ، وَنَسِيَ فَنَسِيَتْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُ

✧ Allah created Adam from dust, then made him clay, then left him until he became black mud shaped. He created him and formed him, then left him until he became dry clay like pottery. He said: Iblis would pass by him and say: 'You have been created for a tremendous matter.' Then Allah blew into him His spirit. The first thing in which the spirit flowed was his sight and his nostrils, and he sneezed. Allah taught him to praise his Lord. The Lord said: 'Your Lord has mercy on you.' Then Allah said: 'O Adam, go to those people, greet them, and see what they say.' He came and greeted them, and they said: 'And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.' He returned to his Lord, and He said—though He was most knowing of what they said to him—: 'What did they say to you?' He said: 'O Lord, when I greeted them, they said: And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.' He said: 'O Adam, this is your greeting and the greeting of your descendants.' He said: 'O Lord, and what are my descendants?' He said: 'Choose My hand, O Adam.' He said: 'I choose the right hand of my Lord, and both hands of my Lord are right.' Allah spread His palm, and behold, all that would be from his descendants was in the palm of the Most Merciful, Mighty and Majestic. Among them were men with light upon their mouths. There was a man whose light amazed Adam. He said: 'O Lord, who is this?' He said: 'Your son Dawud.' He said: 'O Lord, how much lifespan have you given him?' He said: 'I have given him sixty years.' He said: 'O Lord, complete for him from my lifespan so that his lifespan becomes one hundred years.' Allah did so and made it witnessed. When Adam's lifespan was ending, Allah sent the angel of death to him. Adam said: 'Do I not have forty years remaining from my lifespan?' The angel said: 'Did you not give them to your son Dawud?' Adam denied that, so his descendants deny, and he forgot, so his descendants forget.
