✧ When the verse of debt was revealed, the Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'The first to deny was Adam; the first to deny was Adam. When God created him, He wiped his back and brought forth from him what He was going to create, and He presented them to him. He saw among them a man shining brightly, and said: "O Lord, which of my sons is this?" He said: "Your son Dawud." He said: "O Lord, how long is his lifespan?" He said: "Sixty years." He said: "O Lord, increase his lifespan." He said: "No, unless you increase it from your own lifespan." He said: Adam's lifespan was one thousand years, so he gave him forty years from his lifespan. God wrote a written record and made the angels witnesses. When Adam was dying, the angels came to take his soul, and he said: "There remain forty years of my lifespan." They said: "You gave them to your son Dawud." He said: "I did not do it." So God brought out the written record and the angels bore witness against him. He completed one thousand years for Adam and completed one hundred years for Dawud.'
