حَدَّثَنَا شُجَاعُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

وَيْلٌ لِلْأُمَرَاءِ، وَيْلٌ لِلْعُرَفَاءِ، وَيْلٌ لِلْأُمَنَاءِ، لَيَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَنَّ ذَوَائِبَهُمْ كَانَتْ مُعَلَّقَةً بِالثُّرَيَّا، يَتَذَبْذَبُونَ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَأَنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَلُوا عَمَلًا.

✧ Woe to the rulers, woe to the chiefs, woe to the trustees. Some people on the Day of Resurrection will wish that their forelocks were suspended from the Pleiades, dangling between heaven and earth, and that they had never taken on any responsibility.
