حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُوسَى السُّدِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ النَّصْرِيُّ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ:

وَيْلٌ لِلْأُمَرَاءِ وَيْلٌ لِلْعُرَفَاءِ وَيْلٌ لِلْأُمَنَاءِ لَيَأْتِيَنَّ عَلَى أَحَدِهِمْ يَوْمٌ وَدَّ أَنَّهُ مُعَلَّقٌ بِالنَّجْمِ، وَأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَلِ عَمَلًا

Translation

✧ Woe to the commanders, woe to the chiefs, woe to the trustees. A day will surely come upon one of them when he would wish that he were suspended by a star, and that he had never held any office.
