حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:
إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَكُونُ لَهُ عِنْدَ اللهِ الْمَنْزِلَةُ الرَّفِيعَةُ مَا يَنَالُهَا بِعَمَلٍ، فَمَا يَزَالُ اللهُ يَبْتَلِيهِ بِمَا يَكْرَهُ، حَتَّى يُبَلِّغَهُ إِيَّاهَا
Translation

✧ Indeed the servant may have a lofty station with God that he does not attain by [his] deeds. God does not cease to test him with what he hates until He brings him to it.
