✧ Al-Kifl from the Children of Israel did not refrain from any sin he committed. A woman came to him and he gave her sixty dinars on condition that he have intercourse with her. When he sat from her as a man sits from his wife, she trembled and wept. He said: “What makes you weep?” She said: “Nothing, but this is a deed I have never done; only need drove me to it.” He said: “You do this and have never done it? Go, the dinars are yours.” And he said: “By Allah, I will never disobey Allah after this, ever.” He spent that night, and in the morning it was written on his door: “Allah has forgiven al-Kifl.”

machine translationAbū Bakr b. ʿAyyāsh said, from al-Aʿmash, from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbdillāh, from Saʿīd b. Jubayr, from Ibn ʿUmar, from the Prophet ﷺ. But he erred in saying "Saʿīd b. Jubayr"; the correct reading is "from Saʿīd, the freed slave of Ṭalḥah".
