✧ I came upon Abu Jahl while he was lying fallen, with a helmet on him, and I had a worn sword. I began to strike his head with my sword, remembering how he used to strike my head in Makkah, until his hand went limp and I took his sword. He raised his head and said: On whose side was the defeat? Against us or for us? Are you not our little shepherd boy in Makkah? He said: Then I killed him. Then I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I have killed Abu Jahl. He said: By Allah, besides whom there is no god, you killed him? And he made me swear three times. Then he stood with me against them and supplicated against them.
