✧ I was with my master Ali b. Abi Talib when the people of Nahrawan were killed. He said: The people felt something within themselves about killing them. Ali said: O people, the Prophet of God ﷺ told us of people who pass through the religion as an arrow passes through the game, and they do not return to it until the arrow returns to its bowstring. The sign of that is that among them is a man with a deformed hand, one of his hands like a woman's breast, with a nipple like a woman's nipple, and with seven coarse hairs on it. Seek him, for I think he is among them. They searched and found him on the bank of the river beneath the dead. They brought him out, and Ali said: God is great, God and His Messenger spoke the truth. And the sign of that was a man wearing a bow with an Arab (bowstring). He took it in his hand and began thrusting with it into his deformed limb, saying: God is great, God and His Messenger spoke the truth, God and His Messenger spoke the truth. The people said God is great when they saw him and rejoiced, and what they had felt left them.
