حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا جَمِيلُ بْنُ مُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْوَضِيءِ قَالَ
شَهِدْتُ عَلِيًّا حِينَ قَتَلَ أَهْلَ النَّهَرَوَانِ قَالَ: الْتَمِسُوا فِي الْقَتْلَى ؟ قَالُوا: لَمْ نَجِدْهُ، قَالَ: اطْلُبُوهُ، فَوَاللهِ مَا كَذَبْتُ وَلَا كُذِبْتُ، حَتَّى اسْتَخْرَجُوهُ مِنْ تَحْتِ الْقَتْلَى، قَالَ أَبُو الْوَضِيءِ: فَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ، حَبَشِيٌّ إِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ مِثْلُ ثَدْيِ الْمَرْأَةِ، عَلَيْهَا شَعَرَاتٌ مِثْلُ ذَنَبِ الْيَرْبُوعِ
Translation

✧ I witnessed 'Ali when he killed the people of al-Nahrawān. He said: Search among the slain. They said: We did not find him. He said: Look for him, for by God, I have not lied, nor have I been lied to, until they extracted him from beneath the slain. Abū al-Waḍī' said: It is as if I am looking at him: an Ethiopian, one of his hands like a woman's breast, with hairs on it like the tail of a jerboa.
