✧ His father was in charge of Uthman's food. My father said: It is as if I can see the partridges around the large bowls. A man came and said to Uthman, 'Ali dislikes this.' So he sent for Ali, who came with his forearms smeared with leaves. He said, 'You are very often opposing us.' Ali said, 'I adjure by Allah any man who witnessed that a haunch of a wild donkey was gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said, "We are in a state of ihram; feed it to those not in ihram." Men stood and testified. Ali said, 'I adjure by Allah any man who witnessed that five ostrich eggs were gifted to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "We are in a state of ihram; feed it to those not in ihram." Men stood and testified. Uthman stood, entered his tent, and the people departed, leaving the food for the people of the water.
